This recipe has been around for decades. I am in my 50s and it was the first cake we made in home ec in junior high.

Ingredients For crazy cake

  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1 c
    cold water

How To Make crazy cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt directly into 8" square cake pan. Make 3 holes/wells in the dry ingredients. In the first hole, pour vanilla; pour vegetable oil in one and in the last well, pour vinegar. Pour 1 cup cold water over all and stir with a fork until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes

    Cool on wire rack. Eat it plain; dust with powdered sugar or frost.
