I received this recipe at my bridal shower and have been making it often for the past 23 years! It is quick and easy to make since you don't use a mixer. The frosting is fudgy and delicious too.

Ingredients

3 c
all purpose flour
2 c
sugar
1/3 c
cocoa, unsweetened
3/4 c
canola oil
2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 tsp
white vinegar

CHOCOLATE CHIP FROSTING

1/2 c
butter, cold
1/2 c
milk
2 c
sugar
1 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips

How to Make Crazy Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make wells and add oil, vinegar and vanilla. Pour 2 cups water over all. Mix with fork -- do not beat. Pour into ungreased 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
  • 2For Frosting: Bring first three ingredients to a rolling boil. Removed from heat and add 1 cup chocolate chips. Pour over cooled cake.
