1Beat eggs. Add sugar then oil. Add perserves and beat well. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk. Add nuts last and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. may use glaze if you wish.
2Glaze: 1 c sugar,3/4 c butter, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp. vanilla. Boil on low heat. Stir often until thick. Spread on cake or use cream cheese icing.
