- 3 - eggs
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup cooking oil
- 1 cup fig preserves
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/4 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped pecans

Step 1Beat eggs. Add sugar then oil. Add perserves and beat well. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk. Add nuts last and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. may use glaze if you wish.

Step 2Glaze: 1 c sugar,3/4 c butter, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp. vanilla. Boil on low heat. Stir often until thick. Spread on cake or use cream cheese icing.
