This is a recipe my mother made when I was a kid and we received it from my grandmother!!! No one in our family let it stay around very long. My brother and his boys love this. There is also an icing you can put on them but they're good without it.

Ingredients
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening (i used shortening)
- 3 - eggs - well beaten
- 1 cup cold coffee
- 1 teaspoon soda mixed in with coffee
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon each - cinnamon, nutmeg & ginger
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup each - raisins and nuts(coud be optional)
How To Make coffee dreams

Step 1mix brown sugar and shortening till fluffy then add well beaten eggs. Add the coffee with soda

Step 2Mix together Flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and put in a little at a time beating and scraping sides of bowl well.

Step 3Add Vanilla and if wanted raisins and nuts

Step 4Bake in a 11x15 pan greased at 350degrees for 26 to 30 min. ENJOY-----MMM MMM GOOD

Step 5ICING: 6TBLS brown Sugar and 1/4 c shortening - CREAM together then add 2 c sifted powdered sugar and 3 TBLS cream and 1 teasp vanilla
