My Mom use to make this cake for us when we were young. It was quick and easy and it was delicious.

  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkg
    instant lemon pudding mix
  • 3/4 c
  • 3/4 c
  • 4
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    butter flavoring
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts, if desired

How to Make Coffee Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Combine cake and pudding mixes, water and oil in mixing bowl.
  3. Stir until blended, add eggs one at a time and beating well after each addition.
  4. Add vanilla extract and butter flavoring and beat well.
  5. Combine sugar and pecans, if desired or just the sugar mixture.
  6. sprinkle 1/4 cup of the sugar mixture in the bottom of a lightly greased Bunt pan or 13 x 9 pan.
  7. Add some of the batter and repeat layers ending with batter.
  8. Bake 50 minutes to an hour or until done.
  9. Cool 15 minutes and remove to dish to continue cooling.
