I got this recipe from my mom. I take this cake to church events and to work and it is always it a hit! I always have the simple ingredients on hand in case I need a cake in a pinch.

yellow cake mix (without pudding)
2/3 c
canola oil
1 c
1/4 c
2/3 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/4 Tbsp
3/4 c
powdered sugar
2 Tbsp
lemon juice

How to Make Cinnamon Streusel Cake


  • 1Combine cake mix, oil, eggs, buttermilk and sugar. Beat 2 minutes. Pour half of the batter in a greased/floured 13x9 baking dish.
  • 2Combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • 3Sprinkle half of the sugar-cinnamon mixture over batter.
  • 4Pour remaining cake batter into pan.
  • 5Top with remaining sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  • 6Draw a knife through the batter to make a swirl design.
  • 7Bake 40 minutes at 325.
  • 8Combine powdered sugar and lemon juice. Drizzle over warm cake.
  • 9Note: Most of the time, I use Saco Buttermilk powder instead of fresh buttermilk. 4 Tablespoons of powder plus one cup of water.
