Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 cups honey bunches of oats cereal
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 - egg, beaten with 1 tsp water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk* (may use substitute)
  • BUTTERMILK SUBSITITUTE:
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1/2 cup milk

How To Make cinnamon & raisin scones

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 F & grease a baking sheet.
  • Step 2
    Combine, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  • Step 3
    Cut in butter until mixture forms coarse crumbs. Add cereal and mix well.
  • Step 4
    Combine two eggs, buttermilk and raisins in separate bowl. Add to cereal mixture and stir until dough clings together.
  • Step 5
    Knead on a floured surface 5 to 6 strokes.
  • Step 6
    Divide dough in half. Roll or pat each half into a 6 inch circle that is 3/4 inch thick. Cut each circle into wedges and place on baking sheet. Brush with egg and water mixture.
  • Step 7
    Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until golden brown.
