A delicious scone recipe that can be easily made with on hand ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/3 c
    butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 c
    honey bunches of oats cereal
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    raisins
  • 1
    egg, beaten with 1 tsp water
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk* (may use substitute)
  • BUTTERMILK SUBSITITUTE:

  • 1 1/2 tsp
    lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1/2 c
    milk

How to Make Cinnamon & Raisin Scones

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F & grease a baking sheet.
  2. Combine, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture forms coarse crumbs. Add cereal and mix well.
  4. Combine two eggs, buttermilk and raisins in separate bowl. Add to cereal mixture and stir until dough clings together.
  5. Knead on a floured surface 5 to 6 strokes.
  6. Divide dough in half. Roll or pat each half into a 6 inch circle that is 3/4 inch thick. Cut each circle into wedges and place on baking sheet. Brush with egg and water mixture.
  7. Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until golden brown.
