This is a soft double chocolate sandwich cookie on STEROIDS! (kinda like an Oreo Cakester, but better) A simple cake mix cookie w/chocolate frosting filling. It is sure to please any sweet tooth or chocolate craving.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

This is rich, decadent chocolate whoopie wonderful! The cookie itself is easy to make and bakes perfectly. The inside is rich and chewy while the outside is firm enough to hold the amazing chocolate marshmallow filling. The filling is firm and firms up even more when it sits for a while. It's the best ooey, gooey center for this sandwich cookie. The whole crew loved these! We used a piping bag to easily fill the cookies and to help with the presentation. We'd suggest doing this, but a spoon works great too. Test Kitchen Avatar The Test Kitchen

How to Make Chocolate Whoopie Donna's Way

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix all cookie dough ingredients.
  2. Scoop onto cookie sheet using a 2-tablespoon scoop.
  3. Bake at 375º for 9-11 minutes (depending on your oven).
  4. Let cookies cool on racks till completely cooled.
  5. Mix up the frosting.
  6. Scoop about 1-2 tablespoons of frosting onto bottom of a cookie.
  7. Top with bottom side of another cookie to make a sandwich. Repeat until all cookies are used.
  8. These are really rich. To make smaller treats, use a smaller scoop. Just make sure to use a scoop. This ensures the cookies bake to the same size to make nice lil sandwiches. :)
  9. NOTE: For smaller cookie sandwiches, about the size of an Oreo, use a 1 tablespoon scoop & cook for 7-8 minutes.
