Ingredients

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ICING INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 1 box
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    pecans

How to Make Chocolate Sheet Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift sugar and plain flour together in a large bowl.
  2. Mix together butter, cocoa and water in boiler and bring to boil; pour this mixture over the flour and stir well.
  3. Add eggs and soda dissolved in buttermilk; mix well.
  4. Add cinnamon and vanilla; mix well by hand and pour into a greased 9x13" pan. (Glass pan is best.)
  5. Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Chocolate Fudge Icing: Melt together and boil cocoa, butter and milk; add powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans.
  7. Spread icing over cake in pan and cut into squares.
