  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2/3 c
    shortening or butter
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    sauerkraut, chopped rinsed and drained

How to Make CHOCOLATE SAUERKRAUT CAKE

Step-by-Step

  1. CREAM TOGETHER SUGAR AND SHORTENING OR BUTTER ADD EGGS MIX WELL, THEN ADD VANILLA SALT AND COCOA
  2. SIFT TOGETHER FLUR BAKING SODA AND BAKING POWDER
  3. ALTERNATING ADD FLOUR MIXTURE AND WATER
    FOLD IN KRAUT BY HAND
  4. BAKE IN GREASED AND FLOURED 13 X 9 PAN BAKE 35-45 MIN AT 350 DEGREES TILL TOOTHPICK COMES OUT CLEAN
    FROST WITH FAVORITE CHOCOLATE FROSTING
  5. BE VERY CAREFUL TO RINSE AND DRAIN AND CHOP THE SAUERKRAUT DON'T NEED MORE THAN 1/2 CUP OF IT
