Ingredients
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 - eggs
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour , sifted
- 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup sauerkraut ,rinsed , drained and chopped
- - chocolate butter cream frosting
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup whipping cream

Step 1Preheat oven to 325 %

Step 2Grease and flour 2 ( 8-inch )cake pans . Cream butter and sugar until smooth . Add vanilla and eggs , one at a time . Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk . Mix well . Fold in drained sauerkraut .

Step 3pour evenly into prepared cake pans Bake in preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes , or until cake springs back at the touch . Remove from pans and frost with Chocolate Butter cream Frosting

Step 4Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting : Combine cocoa , salt ,and sugar . Cream butter and vanilla . Add cream . Combine the sugar mixture and cream a little at a time , then beat 2 minutes at high speed with an electric mixer . Spread on cooled cake .
