This cake is very moist . My family loves it .I usually make it around the holidays .

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour , sifted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup sauerkraut ,rinsed , drained and chopped
  • - chocolate butter cream frosting
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream

How To Make chocolate sauerkraut cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 %
  • Step 2
    Grease and flour 2 ( 8-inch )cake pans . Cream butter and sugar until smooth . Add vanilla and eggs , one at a time . Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk . Mix well . Fold in drained sauerkraut .
  • Step 3
    pour evenly into prepared cake pans Bake in preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes , or until cake springs back at the touch . Remove from pans and frost with Chocolate Butter cream Frosting
  • Step 4
    Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting : Combine cocoa , salt ,and sugar . Cream butter and vanilla . Add cream . Combine the sugar mixture and cream a little at a time , then beat 2 minutes at high speed with an electric mixer . Spread on cooled cake .
