all purpose sifted flour
1 tsp
baking powder
4 Tbsp
powdered buttermilk
9 tsp
1 tsp
1.5 c
1 tsp
1 tsp
1 tsp
cloves, ground
1 tsp
1/2 c
3 Tbsp
medium eggs
1 c
sour cream
8 oz
cream cheese
1/4 c
2 c
confectioners' sugar
1/4 c
1 tsp
cinnamon, optional

How to Make Chocolate Romance Cake


  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Grease and flour two or three 8 inch layer pans or one 9x12x2 cake pan.
  • 3Mix all dry ingredients together.
  • 4Blend in mayonnaise, eggs, vanilla and 1/2 of sour cream.
  • 5Beat 2 minutes at medium speed with mixer or 300 strokes by hand.
  • 6Add remaining sour cream and beat 2 minutes longer.
  • 7Pour into pans.
  • 8Bake 25 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out "clean".
  • 9Cool on rack a few minutes before removing from pan.
  • 10When cool, frost cake.
  • 11FROSTING: Cream butter and cream cheese together until fluffy, gradually add dry ingredients one at a time until all are well blended.
  • 12Add vanilla and blend well.
