Ingredients

  • 1/4 pound butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 - eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ICING INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 - squares chocolate
  • 1 box confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - milk as needed

How To Make chocolate pound cake

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and shortening.
  • Step 2
    Add sugar and eggs.
  • Step 3
    Sift dry ingredients together, and add vanilla.
  • Step 4
    Bake in tube pan at 325 degrees for about 1 hour and 20 minutew.

    ICING INSTRUCTIONS
  • Step 6
    Melt butter and shortening together.
  • Step 7
    Stir in sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to spread.
