This is a cake my mom would make for company. It is so rich and good. It is delicious with some fresh strawberries on the side and a dollop of whipped cream but can easily stand alone.

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 - 4 oz bar german chocolate, melted
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
How To Make chocolate pound cake

Step 1Have all ingredients at room temperature. Cream sugar and butter until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.

Step 2Add vanilla and melted chocolate.

Step 3Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately to butter mixture with the buttermilk.

Step 4Pour into a lightly greased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Let stand 10 minutes befire removing from pan.

Step 5My mom also baked this in 2 loaf pans sometimes. All her recipe says is to reduce baking time but she did not say by how much.
