chocolate pound cake

My mother had been making this cake for years before I started baking. Her church asks for it everytime they have a covered dish meal. Be careful not to overbake it as that will make it dry. Enjoy!

- 2 sticks butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 - eggs
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make chocolate pound cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream butter, shortening and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift cocoa, baking powder and flour together. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, blending well between each addition. Add in vanilla and mix well. Pour into a large angel food pan (the one piece kind) and bake for 2 hours at 300 degrees.
