This recipe comes from a 1968 recipe book titled,"Favorite Recipes From Church of GOD Ladies". Each of the recipes has the ladies' name and home town and I will include this with the recipe and if you know or are related to this person, I would really like to know. The recipes I post from this cookbook are ones I have tried and really like or are unusual due to ingredients or possibly due to the number of recipes with the same name but are different in some way. I hope you enjoy.
I know some the recipes are really lacking in some or all areas, but I am posting them as they are in the cookbook

    baking powder
  • 1/2 c
    plus 1/3 cup cocoa

  • 1/2 c
  • 3 c
    granulated sugar

  • 1 box
    confectioners' sugar

How to Make Chocolate Pound Cake (#15)


  1. Sift flour, baking powder, 1/2 cup cocoa and a pinch of salt together.
  2. Cream 1 cup margarine, shortening and granulated sugar together.
  3. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time.
  4. Add flour mixture and 1 1/4 cups milk to egg mixture alternately.
  5. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla; Mix until smooth.
  6. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  7. Blend remaining margarine, remaining cocoa, remaining vanilla, confectioners' sugar and 1/4 teaspoon salt;
  8. Add milk until of spreading consistency. Cool cake; frost.
