Ingredients

  • ·
    cake ingredients
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ·
    brown sugar frosting ingredients
  • 1/4 c
    butter, room temperature
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 3/4 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar

How to Make Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In large bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa and soda.
  3. Add water, mayonnaise and vanilla; beat at medium speed til thoroughly combined.
  4. Pour into greased 9in. square or an 11x7 baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or til cake tests done. Cool completely.
  5. For frosting:
    Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in brown sugar; cook & stir til bubbly. Remove and stir in milk. Gradually add powdered sugar; beat by hand til of spreading consistency.
