chocolate kahlua cake with fudge frosting

THis is one of my favorite cake recipes and it is so easy using a boxed cake mix. The chocolate fudge frosting takes it over the top.

Ingredients

  • 1 box devils food cake mix
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup kahlua or other coffee liqueur
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 4 oz boxes instant chocolate pudding
  • - frosting ingredients
  • 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening like crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 oz - unsweetened chocolate
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

How To Make chocolate kahlua cake with fudge frosting

  • Step 1
    Blend all ingredients together with an electric mixer for 3 minutes. Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 mins. Cool the cake in the pan. Remove the cake to a cake plate and prepare the frosting.
  • Step 2
    Frosting - Mix all ingredients except the vanilla in a 2 1/2 quart pan. Heat to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for one minute without stirring. Place the pan in a bowl of ice and water. Beat the frosting until it is smooth and spreadable. Ice the cake and enjoy.
