Ingredients For chocolate fudge squares with mocha glaze

  • 1/2 c
    unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    extra large egg
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 2 oz
    unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • 1
    generous cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 oz
    unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c
    cup double strength coffee, brewed from freshly ground beans

How To Make chocolate fudge squares with mocha glaze

    Preheat oven to 350.

    Butter an 8 inch square baking pan.

    To make the squares in large bowl, cream butter with sugar and egg.

    In small bowl, sift together flour and baking powder. Add to butter mixture.

    Then add the melted chocolate, being careful not to overbeat. Add the milk, vanilla and walnuts, stirring just to blend. Pour batter into prepared pan.

    Bake until edges begin to pull away from sides of pan and top springs back when pressed lightly, about 30 minutes. Allow cake to cool completely.

    Meanwhile, to make the glaze, in medium bowl, mix the sugar, butter, chocolate and vanilla.

    Stir in coffee and whisk until smooth. Refrigerate glaze until cool, then pour over the top of the cake and cut cake into squares.
