I have been making this dessert for years, it's a Pastor favorite when we have church dinners. :)

Ingredients

  • 1ST LAYER
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 4 - eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can hershey's syrup
  • 2ND LAYER
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons green creme de menthe'
  • 3RD LAYER
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened

How To Make chocolate creme de menthe' squares

  • Step 1
    1st layer: Cream the sugar and butter together, add and beat in the eggs, flour, vanilla, salt and Hershey syrup. Pour into an ungreased 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 for a half and hour. Cool
  • Step 2
    2nd layer: Cream the butter and Creme de menthe' together, slowly add the powdered sugar and beat until very creamy. Spread over cooled 1st layer. Refrigerate to set.
  • Step 3
    3rd layer: In microwave, stirring ever 30 seconds, or in a saucepan, melt together chocolate chips and butter together, cool until lukewarm. Then spread over 2nd layer. Refrigerate to set.
