I always buy bananas, but inevitably there are always some left! This is a great alternative to making banana bread.

  • 2 1/4 c
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 3/4 c
    butter, softened (1 1/2 sticks)
  • 1 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 3
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    banana extract
  • 2
    bananas (ripe, mashed)
  • 3/4 c
    sour cream
  • 1 1/2 c
    mini chocolate chips
  • ·
    whipped cream cheese frosting

How to Make Chocolate Chip Banana Cupcakes


  1. Preheat oven to 350*F
  2. In a medium bowl combine: flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla, banana extract, and bananas; mix well.
  5. Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream; blend thoroughly, but to not overmix.
  6. Fold mini chocolate chips to batter.
  7. Scoop a spoonful of batter for each cupcake into the pan.
  8. Bake 20-25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely in pan before adding frosting.
  10. Enjoy!
