This recipe came to me through a Bake-off recipe book over 30 yrs ago. Still remains one of my favorites. Hope it will be one of your favorites too!

Ingredients
- 1 package devils food cake mix
- 1 can 21 oz.,cherry pie filling
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- FROSTING:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp. butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocloate chips
How To Make chocolate cherry bars

Step 1Cherry Pie Filling, Almond Flavoring & Frosting Recipe, each important to this recipe.

Step 2Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease & flour a jelly roll pan/cookie sheet with sides

Step 3Combine ingredients, except Cherry Pie Filling, in a large mixing bowl. Blend well according to directions on cake mix box, then stir in (with mixing spoon) Cherry Pie Filling (Do not use electric mixer)

Step 4Pour mixture into prepared pan & bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Step 5Combine sugar, butter & milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil & boil for 2 min., stirring constantly. Remove from heat & add chocolate chips & stir until smooth. Pour over cake, spreading to completely cover.
