Ingredients

  • 14 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 - egg yolks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon grand marnier
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 10 - egg whites
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • - confectioners' sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream, whipped

How To Make chocolate cake with grand marnier

  • Step 1
    Melt chocolate and butter in double boiler.
  • Step 2
    Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Step 3
    Beat yolks and 1 cup sugar until smooth; stir in vanilla, grand marnier and lemon juice.
  • Step 4
    Blend in chocolate mixture.
  • Step 5
    Beat egg whites in large mixer bowl until soft peaks form.
  • Step 6
    Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar; beating until stiff peaks form.
  • Step 7
    Stir 1 cup of whites into chocolate mixture, then fold in remaining whites.
  • Step 8
    Pour batter into greased and floured 10 or 12 inch springform pan.
  • Step 9
    Bake in preheated 250 oven 2 1/2 hours.
  • Step 10
    Cool completely on rack before removing pan.
  • Step 11
    Sprinkle cake with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream.
