My family and friends love this cake. I have to make it a lot for them at holidays and special occasions. I hope you all love it as much as we do. It is a rich cake and very easy to make.

Ingredients

CAKE INGREDIENTS SIFT TOGETHER FIRST 5 INGREDIENTS

2 c
sugar
2 c
flour
3 Tbsp
cocoa, unsweetened
1/4 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
baking soda

ADD TO DRY INGREDIENTS AND MIX WELL AND POUR INTO GREASED 13 X 9 PAN

2 stick
butter, melted
1 c
boiling water
1/2 c
buttermilk
2
eggs
1 tsp
vanilla extract

SAUCE FOR CAKE

1 c
sugar
1/2 c
buttermilk
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 stick
butter
1 Tbsp
corn syrup, light
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Chocolate Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix cake well and pour into a well greased 13 x 9 baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. When cake has baked for 30 minutes, start ingredients for the sauce. Use a large sauce pan and start adding the ingredients. Boil for 15 minutes. When cake is done poke holes into cake with a fork and then pour the sauce over the cake while it is still warm. If you like, you can double the sauce ingredients. My family loves the sauce so I do double them. Enjoy!!!
