Made these last night and they are another treat that is good warm or cold and for desert or breakfast. It is so easy, it's a great tool for teaching children to cook.

Ingredients For chessbars with a twist of lemon

  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese softened
  • 1 box
    powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice, fresh (i use juice of 2 lemons)

How To Make chessbars with a twist of lemon

    Melt butter in 9 X 11 baking dish
  • 2
    add cake mix and 1 egg to butter, mix thoroughly and then press evenly into bottom of dish
  • 3
    In medium mixing bowl, mix powdered sugar, 2 eggs, cream cheese and lemon juice. Pour over cake batter.

    Bake in 300 degree oven until lightly brown on top and top springs back when touched. Aproximately 55 minutes baking time depending on your oven temperature.
