This is a very old recipe that has been handed down through my family. It will handle anyone's sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

How To Make chess cake

  • Step 1
    In a sauce pan over low heat, melt the butter and brown sugar, then remove from heat and add the remaining ingredients, mixing well.
  • Step 2
    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Transfer cake batter to a prepared 13 x 9 x 2 pan and bake 45 minutes. There will be very moist crumbs when tested. Dust with powdered sugar while still warm.
  • Step 3
    This can also be rolled in walnut sized balls and rolled in powdered while still warm. Butter hands well to prevent sticking and take care to not burn yourself.
