Ingredients
- 1 can (20 ounces) cherry pie filling
- 1 - 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 - eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 - 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make cherry upside down cake

Step 1Heat oven to 350°degree F. Generously butter an 8-inch square baking pan. Spread the cherry pie filling over the bottom.

Step 2Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

Step 3In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and flavorings. Beat in the sifted dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Beat until well blended.

Step 4Spoon over the cherry pie filling; spread to cover.

Step 5Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until cake springs back when lightly touched with finger.

Step 6Let cool for about 10 minutes. Loosen sides and carefully invert on a serving plate or cake server. If some of the cherries stick to the pan..just take a spoon and place them back where they belong..I love this cake , because it has just enough almond flavor, and tastes great with the cherries.
