Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 1 jar maraschino cherries drained, chopped, save juice
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 4 - egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make cherry nut cake

Step 1in large bowl sift dry ingredients together

Step 2stir in milk

Step 3add eggs beating well with mixer after each

Step 4add vanilla and beat 2 minutes on high,

Step 5stir in cherries and nuts

Step 6pour into prepared cake pan. two layer or one 13X9

Step 7bake 350 degrees 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Step 8frost with buttercream frosting. I use the saved cherry juice and almond flavoring to frosting ingredients.
