When we are expecting company or if we are going to a picnic, this is a easy dessert to make. It goes together quickly and is easy to take along to a picnic. Everyone who has tried it loves it.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 - eggs
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • GLAZE
  • 1 cup powder sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoon milk

How To Make cherry coffee cake

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 X 9 X 2 inch. pan.
  • Step 2
    Blend sugar, margarine, crisco, baking powder, vanilla and eggs in a large bowl on low speed. Beat on high for 3 min. Stir in flour. Spread 2/3 of the batter in the pan. Drop the cherry pie filling on the top of the batter. Then drop remaining batter on top by tablespoons on top of the cherry pie filling.
  • Step 3
    Bake until golden brown about 45 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes. Then make glaze by stirring 1 cup of powder sugar with 1 to 2 Tbsp. of milk until smooth, then drizzle over warm cake.
