This is a family favorite. I've been making it since I was a teen. I found it in our church's cookbook and have been making it ever since, especially for my Daddy's birthday because it was his favorite.

    angel food cake mix
  • 1
    tub of cool whip
  • 1 pkg
    cream cheese
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    vanilla
  • 1 can(s)
    cherry pie filling

How to Make Cherries on Top Angel Food Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Make angel food cake as directed, let cool.
    Icing- In a large bowl cream together cream cheese, sugar, powdered sugar and vanilla. Fold in cool whip untill well blended.
  2. Cut angel food cake into 2 layers and ice cake. Place cherries on the top and around the bottom if you'd like and drizzle the "juice" on top and down the sides.
