This was my mother's recipe, a great way to make an old fashion coffee cake a new fashion way. Great around the Holidays or just for that Coffee Day with friends.

    yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkg
    instant vanilla pudding
  • 3/4 c
    mazola corn oil
  • 3/4 c
  • 4
  • 1 tsp
    butter flavoring
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp

  • 1 c
    (heaping) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    butter flavoring
  • 2 Tbsp

How to Make Charlene's Coffee Cake


  1. pre heat oven to 350. Using an electric mixer, beat cake mix, pudding, corn oil, & water. Add the 4 eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add butter & vanilla flavoring. Beat for 8 minutes! Mix togater topping ingredients in separate bowl. Grease Bunt cake pan. Sprinkle 1/3 of topping in bottom. Layer batter with topping making 3 layers. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Turn onto plate and let cool.
  2. After Cake has cooled, mix frosting and drizzle over cake.
