How to Make Cassies Cinnamon Apple Shortcake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Peel apples and slice thin, pile high in a 8x8 pan..make sure you use plenty of apples, as they will cook down..
  3. Mix the sugar and spice, pour on the apples, and put them in the oven to start cooking, while you prepare the cake. A good 25 minutes..
  4. Cake batter:

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt.

In another bowl, cream the shortening, sugar and egg.
  5. Alternate flour mix with ¾ c. milk into the creamed sugar mixture.
  6. Remove apples from the oven. spoon the batter on the apples, I spread it around with a spatula, the batter is a bit on the thick side.
  7. Bake for 30-35 min till light golden brown.

Spoon out in bowls, add ice cream ,whipped topping, or nothing at all..It is good all by itself..

    Enjoy!
