My family love this cake and I usually have to hide this until Christmas. It is a moist pound cake. The butter shortening really adds flavour to this rich pound cake

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound 2 sticks butter plus more for pan
- 1/2 cup butter shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 - eggs
- 3 cups all purpose flour plus more for pan
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 375 milliliters jar of maraschino cherries

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees Cream butter and shortening together Add sugar a little at a time Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each one Add dry ingrediants alternately with milk Add the vanilla Cut the cherries in half and coat with flour then stir into the batter Cut a circle of parchment for the bottom of the pan.Grease and dust with flour the pan. Pour into a springform pan Bake for 1 to 1/2 hours until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
