Rich and delicious- this is a cross between a cake and a cobbler.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 cups flour, all purpose
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 5 - granny smith apples, cut in small cubes of equal size
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar

How To Make carmel apple cake

  • Step 1
    Mix sugars, melted butter and eggs.
  • Step 2
    Add remaining dry ingredients. Dough will be thick, resembling a cookie batter.
  • Step 3
    Peel and chop apples and add to batter, stirring just until mixed.
  • Step 4
    Spread into a greased 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Shortly before the cake is done baking add the remaining 4 Tbs butter, sugars and whipping cream to sauce pan on medium heat.Make sure to stir frequently until slightly thick.Becareful not to burn it.
  • Step 6
    Pour sauce over warm cake slices. Cake is best served warm.
