For my Daughter Danielle's Birthday I made her this cake. No recipe, just her description of a cake she had at a restaurant in town. It was a lot of fun to create. It is a semi-homemade cake...but as I said "Can it be Real"...As she ate it she was so content and took it to her fellow Deputy Sheriff's and they asked her if they could marry me...LOL. It was a hit!!

  • 1 box duncan hines dark chocolate cake mix
  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1 - sara lee frozen cheese cake
  • 2 - cans fudge frosting (used aldi brand)
  • COCONUT-PECAN FILLING
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 - egg yolks
  • 1/;2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

How To Make can this be real "chocolate cake"

  • Step 1
Prepare cake mix and brownie mix according to package directions. Pour into 9 inch sprayed cake pans. (I of course baked them separate). Use parchment paper for the brownies.
  • Step 2
For filling: combine cream, sugar, egg yolks, and butter in a medium sauce pan; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients, and let cool completely.
  • Step 3
To assemble: Place one chocolate cake on cake plate. Frost with a thin layer of chocolate frosting, then pecan filling, next layer brownie with a thin layer of frosting , add thin sliced cheese cake (keep frozen; it is easier to cut). Next layer, brownie again, thin layer of frosting w/cheese cake, add the other cake. Frost sides with chocolate frosting, and remainder of pecan frosting on the top. Keep refrigerated.
  • Step 4
You can layer it as you like. You can use canned pecan frosting. My daughter wanted my homemade. I hope you enjoy!!
