Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oatmeal
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped

How To Make butterscotch cake

  • Step 1
    Combine boiling water and oats; let stand.
  • Step 2
    Melt butterscotch morsels; set aside.
  • Step 3
    Combine sugar, brown sugar, and butter, beat well.
  • Step 4
    Beat in eggs.
  • Step 5
    Blend in oat mixture, melted butterscotch.
  • Step 6
    Sift dry ingredients and gradually blend into wet ingredients.
  • Step 7
    Stir in raisins and nuts.
  • Step 8
    Pour into greased and floured 13 X 9 inch pan.
  • Step 9
    Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
  • Step 10
    Frost with your favorite chocolate icing.
