I have had this recipe for about 30 years, I can't even remember where I got it from. This is my husband and my favorite cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup self rising flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter nut flavoring
  • FROSTING
  • 1-(8) ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 box confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter nut flavoring
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

How To Make butternut cake

  • Step 1
    Cream sugar, crisco and eggs. Add 1 cup of all purpose flour and beat, add rest of ingredients and beat until well mixed. Pour into 2 or 3 greased and floured cake pans.(Depends on how thick you want the layers) Bake at 350 degrees for about 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire racks 10 minutes in pans the turn onto rack and completely cool.
  • Step 2
    Frosting: Cream butter and cream cheese, add sugar and flavoring, beat until mixed. Stir in pecans.
