I was making Buttermilk Chess Pie with my son and having him read the directions. After I added 2 cups of flour, I asked him if he was sure it wasn't 2 tablespoons? Whoops, and the making of Buttermilk Chess Cake was born.

Ingredients

1/3 c
butter or butter flavored shortning

eggs
1 c
sugar
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract
1 dash(es)
salt
1 pinch
cinnamon
1 1/2 c
buttermilk
2 c
flour
2 tsp
baking powder

How to Make Buttermilk Chess Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream the butter with the sugar until smooth. Add in and beat the eggs. Add in Vanilla and buttermilk. Stir until smooth and consistent.
  • 2Mix in the flour, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder.
  • 3Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes (I use a bundt pan) insert knife and make sure it comes out dry.
