How to Make Buttercream Icing
- Cream butter and crisco until smooth, add vanilla or whatever flavoring you like.
- Beat in powdered sugar one cup at a time until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add milk a little at a time until desired consistency.
If you are coloring it, add small amounts of paste color until you get the color you want. Remember the colors deepen as it sits.
- If you are decorating with tips, you want the icing a little stiffer than if you are just icing a cake or cupcakes.
