Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound (about 4 cups) confectioner's sugar
- 3 tablespoons cool milk or cream
How To Make buttercream icing

Step 1Cream Butter and Shorttening togetherwith an electric mixer.

Step 2Add vanilla and salt>Beat in sugar, 1 cup at a time, bleanding well after addition.

Step 3Scrape sides and bottom of the bowloften with a spatula. Add milk and beat at high speed until light and fluffy.

Step 4keep icing covered with lid or damp cloth and store in refrigerator when not in use. yield 3:cups
