- 3 cups pecans, chopped
- 1 1/4 cups butter, softened and divided
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- FROSTING
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 8 cups powdered sugar
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
How To Make butter pecan layer cake

Step 1Place the pecans and 1/4 cup butter on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, stirring once in a while. Set aside.

Step 2Cream the sugar and remaining butter until light and fluffy.

Step 3Beat eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.

Step 4Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the sugar mixture with the buttermilk.

Step 5Stir in 1 1/3 cups of the pecans.
