This recipe is from a dear Italian friend who is a great cook, Elvira. This cake will be dense and low, but delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • - sugar for garnish
  • - almonds, slivered for garnish

How To Make butter almond cake

  • Step 1
    Blend sugar with melted butter. Beat in eggs. Add in almond and vanilla extract. Add salt and flour.
  • Step 2
    Spread batter in greased 9 inch round shallow pan (like a torte pan). Sprinkle with granulated sugar and sliced almonds. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Cake will be dense and low.
