Brownies with Cooked Fudge Icing

1 1/8 cbutter, melted

6 ozchocolate, unsweetened squares

2 1/4 csugar

5 largeeggs

2 tspvanilla extract

1 3/4 cflour

1 tspsalt

1 cnuts

QUICK FUDGE ICING
-
1 csugar
-
1/4 ccocoa powder
-
1/4 cbutter, melted
-
1/2 cmilk
-
2 Tbspwhite corn syrup
-
1/8 tspsalt
-
1 3/4 - 2 cpowdered sugar
-
1 tspvanilla extract
How to Make Brownies with Cooked Fudge Icing
- For Brownies:
Melt butter and chocolate together.
About 3 minutes in the microwave. - Beat eggs in small bowl. Add sugar and vanilla. Mix until well blended.
Add to melted butter/chocolate mixture.
Mix well. - Sift flour and salt together. Mix with nuts(optional); add last to mixture.
- Put into greased pan. Bake 25 minutes at 350º or until toothpick comes out clean.
Let the brownies cool before icing. - Quick Fudge Icing
Mix sugar and cocoa in saucepan.
Stir in butter, milk, corn syrup and salt.
Bring to full rolling boil. Boil vigorously for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. - Cool for about 10 minutes.
Beat in sifted confectioners sugar and vanilla.
Pour over brownies. The icing will harden as it cools, so work quickly.
