brownies with cooked fudge icing

This is a recipe my mom made when I was a kid. It is always a favorite when I make these. It is one of the few recipes, I don't try to skinny down.

Ingredients
- BROWNIE INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/8 cups butter, melted
- 6 ounces chocolate, unsweetened squares
- 2 1/4 cups sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup nuts
- QUICK FUDGE ICING
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons white corn syrup
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 - 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make brownies with cooked fudge icing

Step 1For Brownies: Melt butter and chocolate together. About 3 minutes in the microwave.

Step 2Beat eggs in small bowl. Add sugar and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Add to melted butter/chocolate mixture. Mix well.

Step 3Sift flour and salt together. Mix with nuts(optional); add last to mixture.

Step 4Put into greased pan. Bake 25 minutes at 350º or until toothpick comes out clean. Let the brownies cool before icing.

Step 5Quick Fudge Icing Mix sugar and cocoa in saucepan. Stir in butter, milk, corn syrup and salt. Bring to full rolling boil. Boil vigorously for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 6Cool for about 10 minutes. Beat in sifted confectioners sugar and vanilla. Pour over brownies. The icing will harden as it cools, so work quickly.
