brown sugar, firmly packed
1.75 c
sifted flour
2 tsp
2 tsp
ground ginger
1 tsp
cardamon, ground
1 Tbsp
cloves, ground
1 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
3/4 c
1/2 c
butter, melted
1 c
chopped pecans


1/4 c
1/4 c
brown sugar
2 Tbsp
1 c
confectioners' sugar
1 tsp
vanilla or rum extract

How to Make Brown Sugar Cake


  • 1Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2Grease and flour 9 cup tube (bundt) pan.
  • 3In large bowl combine dry ingredients.
  • 4Add buttermilk, eggs and melted butter.
  • 5Beat well.
  • 6Add nuts if desired.
  • 7Pour into prepared pan.
  • 8Bake for 50 minutes or until tests done.
  • 9Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 10Turn out onto wire rack or plate and cool.
  • 11Top with Butterscotch Glaze: In sauce pan, combine butter, brown sugar and milk.
  • 12Bring to full boil, add sugar and extract.
  • 13Beat until smooth.
  • 14Add more milk to make a good consistency for drizzling if necessary.
