  • 2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1.75 c
    sifted flour
  • 2 tsp
  • 2 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cardamon, ground
  • 1 Tbsp
    cloves, ground
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 2
  • 3/4 c
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

  • 1/4 c
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla or rum extract

How to Make Brown Sugar Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour 9 cup tube (bundt) pan.
  3. In large bowl combine dry ingredients.
  4. Add buttermilk, eggs and melted butter.
  5. Beat well.
  6. Add nuts if desired.
  7. Pour into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 50 minutes or until tests done.
  9. Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. Turn out onto wire rack or plate and cool.
  11. Top with Butterscotch Glaze: In sauce pan, combine butter, brown sugar and milk.
  12. Bring to full boil, add sugar and extract.
  13. Beat until smooth.
  14. Add more milk to make a good consistency for drizzling if necessary.
