brandy's banana pudding cake

My version of a recipe my daughter gave me this week. Don't know where she found it. But I changed it up some to give it my touch. She thought it was awesome in her words. Making your own custard was so worth it.

Ingredients
- 2 - bananas
- 2 cups - cool whip
- 1 - yellow cake mix i use duncan hines
- 1 box - vanilla wafers cookies
- 1 lg. box banana instant pudding mix i did 't use this i made scratch vanilla custard
How To Make brandy's banana pudding cake

Step 1Make the cake according to the box directions in a 11x14 pan. While it was baking I made my vanilla pudding custard..the one you would use to make banana pudding. While the cake was warm not hot I poked holes in the cake and poured the warm vanilla custard on top. Let sit in fridge till cooled bring out of frig. Cover cake with bananas and a little crushed cookies. Then layer with cool whip and top with crushed cookies and let chill in frig till ready to serve. and top with a few banana pieces. Oven temp is 350.
