Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding package, frozen or homemade
  • GLAZE INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup chocolate pieces
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons milk

How To Make boston creme cake

  • Step 1
    Cream together sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
  • Step 2
    Beat in egg.
  • Step 3
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt and add alternately with milk and vanilla to creamed mixture.
  • Step 4
    Pour into greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
  • Step 5
    Bake in 350 degree oven 25 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Remove from pan and cool on rack.
  • Step 7
    When cold, cut cake into two layers.
  • Step 8
    Spread bottom layer with pudding.
  • Step 9
    Top with second layer.
  • Step 10
    Pour chocolate glaze over top allowing some drizzle down sides.
  • Step 11
    Chocolate Glaze: Melt 1/4 cup chocolate pieces with one tablespoon butter or margarine.
  • Step 12
    Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup unsifted powdered sugar alternately with 1 1/2 tablespoons milk.
