Found this recipe in the Birmingham News paper and made this cake Saturday, and it is absolutely my favorite chocolate cake. Not only was it just super moist, it was one of the easiest cakes i'v ever made, and the frosting is so good! I know you will love this cake. Try it soon!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup hershey's cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9" round cake pans. ( I used 9x13 pan.)
  • Step 2
    Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in mixer bowl.
  • Step 3
    Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Stir in boiling water(batter will be thin).
  • Step 5
    Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • Step 6
    Bake 30-35 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Frost.
  • Step 7

    1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine(melted)
  • Step 9
    2/3 cup hershey's cocoa
  • Step 10
    3 cups powdered sugar
  • Step 11
    1/3 cup milk
  • Step 12
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Step 13
    Add melted butter to mixer bowl, stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency.
  • Step 14
    Add small amount of additional milk , if needed.
  • Step 15
    Stir in vanilla.
