This is a very good cake. My great Aunt use to bake this when she lived with us.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 - egg yolks, reserve whites
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 - egg whites stiffly beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups almonds, sliced
  • FILLING
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch, heaping

How To Make blintz torte

  • Step 1
    Beat together the butter, sugar and egg yolks. Add milk, vanilla, flour and baking powder. Mix well. Put in 2 pans as you would do for a layer cake. Add sugar to beaten egg whites. Spread this on the layers. Sprinkle with nuts and bake like layer cake for 30 to 35 minutes. In a 350 oven.
  • Step 2
    For filling: Bake ingredients like custard and spread between cooled layers.
