Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves, ground
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup seedless blackberry jam
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- ICING INGREDIENTS
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 3/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
How To Make blackberry jam cake

Step 1Cream together sugar and butter.

Step 2Beat in eggs.

Step 3Stir together flour, and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with butter/sour milk, beating until well blended after each addition.

Step 4Fold in blackberry jam or preserves and nuts leaving swirls of jam, do not overmix.

Step 5Turn into greased and lightly floured 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.

Step 6Bake at 350 degree oven 25 minutes or until done.

Step 7Cool completely, then frost with Caramel Icing.

Step 8CARAMEL ICING: In small saucepan, melt butter; stir in brown sugar.

Step 9Cook stirring constantly, until mixture bubbles; remove from heat.

Step 10Cool 5 minutes.

Step 11Stir in milk and blend in confectioners\' sugar; beat until spreading consistency is reached.
