I found this recipe in my mothers old recipe book and it is delicious. It makes a huge cake!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup black walnuts(chopped)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 5 - eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make black walnut pound cake

  • Step 1
    Beat butter and shortening at medium speed until creamy and soft. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed five to seven minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until yellow disappears.
  • Step 2
    Combine flour and baking powder. Add to creamed misture, alternately with milk; begin and end with flour mix. Mix until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla and walnuts.
  • Step 3
    Pour into greased and floured 10inch tube pan. Bake at 325 for 1 and 1/2 hrs.
